James Beard Award–winning Toro and Coppa chef Jamie Bissonnette knows his way around the vast world of preserved meat and fish. Its lobes (sometimes called "tongues") show up three times in this taco: mashed with avocado, piled on top of the guacamole in a bright orange heap, and combined with chipotle and lime juice in a simple salsa. When I thought about making a sea urchin taco, I knew that working it into guacamole would magnify the briny sweetness the spiky creature is known for - the fat in an avocado can help stretch and carry flavors just like a knob of butter. This taco was born out of a shared opinion among my cooks and friends that a tortilla is as worthy of precious ingredients as any piece of Raynaud china. as long as it's smeared with truffle mayonnaise and topped with Gruyère and a meticulously prepared celery relish that involves both celery and celery root. The culinary and creative minds behind Eleven Madison Park (plus legendary mixologist Leo Robitschek) come together once more for The NoMad Cookbook, a collection of recipes from the beloved New York City hotel restaurant. And hey, just because the food's fancy doesn't mean a bacon-wrapped hot dog can't make an appearance. The Humm Dog With Bacon, Black Truffle And Celery Sol's was laced with chilies and spices, and her carrot salad was a mainstay on the table. Her cooking was so different from the food we knew. Sol came to Israel from Morocco in the mid-1950s, and years later, thankfully, she found her way to the Ronnen household. Both of my parents worked full-time, so for the first eight years of my life, my sisters and I were like Sol's adopted children. This recipe has sentimental meaning for me - it is an ode to my childhood nanny, Sol. With this in mind, I present this highly sacrilegious snack, a tricked-out sushi-bar version of a bagel and lox. Somewhere along the way, I realized that "fun" is just as important as "fine" when it comes to eating and even more so in cooking. While my desire to eat with the utmost authenticity was a great way to learn, it wasn't always very fun. This is the dish that truly serves up the natural fresh taste of pork - except in Sichuan, they just can't help but add a garlic and chile sauce to kick up the taste and heat! (A fair portion of the latter, Paytas said, can be attributed to their undiagnosed mental health issues and their past addictions.) They’ve also gained a reputation as an unreliable narrator who constantly trolls for attention and never learns their lesson. They’ve been mocked for everything from their looks to emotional outbursts that they’ve recorded for YouTube. Most of their success has come at great personal cost - collapsed romantic relationships, body dysmorphia, and extraordinarily cruel online abuse. “That’s how I thought with my trolling too. So then all of a sudden when people hated me it’s like, Damn. “I always wanted to be dumb, you know, like Jessica Simpson. (This is and was, it’s worth remembering, very false.) Paytas looks to Marilyn Monroe, The Girls Next Door, and Anna Nicole Smith (Paytas’s office is slated to be a kind of ode to Smith, complete with fuzzy pink walls), among others, for inspiration. Paytas’s YouTube content has also been influenced by celebrities from the early aughts - those young, beautiful, blonde women who were perceived as airheads. “The only troll I think in this world that did it right was Andy Kaufman,” they told me. Paytas loves the now-deceased (or is he) performance artist slash comic and seems to view him and his proto-troll persona as an inspiration for their own living performance. The audience was never really sure whether he was in on the joke, if it was supposed to be funny, or where his performance stopped and his real life began. Paytas’s YouTube description simply says, “I’m Andy Kaufman.” A comedian, performance artist, and sometime wrestler in the ’70s and ’80s, Kaufman invented his own kind of anti-comedy. “I guess we are.”īut there’s a better way to understand their runaway popularity. “Are we seriously watching her eat 4 eggs?” wrote one commenter a year ago. Paytas is so unbelievably charming that over 139,000 people watched a video of them eating four hard-boiled eggs. They make mukbangs, storytime videos, skits, shopping hauls, drama-commentary videos, TikTok dances, memes, travelogues, and for a brief moment, some surprisingly satisfying ASMR. How did Paytas get all those curious eyes glued to literally everything they do? The more mundane explanation is that they get involved in every known drama, every known trend, and every subculture on the internet. They’re far from the most popular creator on YouTube, but they are the face that launched a million memes. Paytas’s primary YouTube account (they have two active accounts), blndsundoll4mj, has 1.9 billion views and just over 5 million subscribers. Thousand? A MONTH?īut maybe that number isn’t surprising if you have a sense of how influential and prolific Paytas has been on YouTube for the last 15 years. They told me with all their income streams, they make about $800,000 a month, a number that sounded so absurd I asked Paytas to clarify repeatedly. So rich that I kept muttering “Jesus Christ” under my breath as they walked me through their acres-wide mansion and showed me their endless mountain of stuff. (Earlier this year, Paytas came out as nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns.) Potts teapot in their kitchen, the same blue as the LaCroix they took out of their drinks-only fridge while they led me through their house. (I’m told that Britney Spears lives in a nearby community, just on the other side of the hill.) When I finally found the front door, Paytas answered it wearing a matching shirt and shorts combo promoting their band, Sadboy2005, short French tips, a full face of glam, and their natural hair. I lost time staring at the remarkable view and wandering around the pool and basketball court. Perched at the top of a hill in Thousand Oaks, in a gated community with strict security and spotty cell service, the property was so sprawling that I was exhausted after climbing two sets of stairs. After all, I’ve watched videos of the YouTube creator eating mozzarella sticks, head-sized burgers, and terrible salads in those front seats. I recognized a few of the custom luxury vehicles in Paytas’s driveway - including a half-million-dollar Rolls-Royce and a Bentley convertible in the same Barbie pink. After my Uber driver dropped me off at Trisha Paytas's 4-acre property, I immediately got lost. If you really want to listen use a proxy server from that specific country to solve this problem.ġ2. If you can get the stations, it’s well worth having, but if you’re limited in your reception area, you might want to wait for a future RadioShark, or look for another product. What could be the reason there is no sound?ġ. Still, if you live in more metropolitan areas, you might have better luck. I feel like I should be able to listen to more than one of them. I can’t speak for it in other areas, but I live in a city with approximately 1,000,000 people in it (and surrounding communities), and we have a dozen or so radio stations. It’s designed well, and the software functions like it should, the biggest problem I have with it is the lack of reception that I’m getting. If I mount the RadioShark higher in the building I can get slightly better reception, but not clear enough to listen for any length of time. I should point out that my alarm clock can pick those other stations with no problem. I can only clearly pick up one radio station in our city, all the others have static on them, and the stations that I listen to that are out of town are completely out of the question. It simply doesn’t have enough range in my area. Here lyes my single biggest complaint about the RadioShark. It’s just something that Tivo users have become accustomed to, and it’s hard to get used to using the software without it. I’m not sure, however, if it would even be possible to provide a guide for every radio station in the world (or even in the US for that matter)…so I can’t really fault the RadioShark for not having that feature. The only major flaw in the software is the lack of a guide of any kind for the radio stations. It also does a good job of recording longer shows…again, talk shows for example….without too much trouble. Recording is easy enough, and if you wanted to, it is precise enough where you could go in, select only one portion of a recording (say, a talk segment…certainly not a song…that would be wrong) and separate it for easy listening later on. Other than that, it functions pretty well. The RadioShark software looks kind of like a Winamp Skin from 1994, and doesn’t quite match the style or coolness of the device itself. They glow an eerie red whenever the unit is recording, so you always know when it’s working. The RadioShark looks right at home next to my Mac Mini, and the lights are a nice touch. It looks like a slick white shark fin, with three illuminating lines on each side of the it. The look of the device, I have to say, is pretty cool. It’s a great concept, but the overall functionality of the device is a mixed bag. The Griffin RadioShark has been out for a while now…basically, it’s a Tivo for radio. Place subviews and controls (such as buttons and text boxes).Within a given Scene, you can do all of the things that would normally have been handled by individual. In this way, each View Controller is a self-contained, reusable pairing of both the information's visual representation (View) and the logic to present and control that information. Each top level scene in the Storyboard represents one View Controller in the Xamarin.Mac app's code. View Controllers define the relationships between a given View of information within a Mac app and the data model that provides that information. The most important thing to note is that each Segue represents the flow of some form of data between the given element of the app's UI. Other Segues, define transitions between View Controller (such as displaying a popover or dialog box). Some Segues define how one View Controller contains one or more child Views or View Controllers. In Xcode's Interface Builder, each of these controllers lives in its own Scene.Įach Scene represents a given View and View Controller Pair with a set of lines (called Segues) that connect each Scene in the UI, thus showing their relationships. However, they contain a different set of Segue Types because of the different interface idioms.Īs stated above, a Storyboard defines all of the UI for a given app broken down into a functional overview of its View Controllers. Storyboards for Xamarin.Mac, work in a very similar fashion to Storyboards for Xamarin.iOS. This article will provide an introduction to using Storyboards to define a Xamarin.Mac app's user Interface.īy using Storyboards, all of a Xamarin.Mac app's UI can be defined in a single location with all of the navigation between its individual elements and user interfaces. Storyboards allow you to develop a User Interface for your Xamarin.Mac app that not only includes the window definitions and controls, but also contains the links between different windows (via segues) and view states. Shout-out to Zoe - I had spoken with Zoe on the phone when ordering the tickets and she was so helpful and friendly. The audio and visual components of the film presentation were of very high quality. The service was excellent - very friendly and attentive waiters and waitresses. Speaking of which, the food was great across the board with a varied menu that should work for everyone. The pod seating is great and allows for some privacy and personal space the reclining seats are very comfortable (pillows and blankets included) and the cup holders and large table make for an easy dining experience. What are the risks?Īs of May 15, the CDC had identified 81 patients across 18 states who had been infected by Pseudomonas aeruginosa. On January 20, the CDC told doctors to avoid recommending the EzriCare product. In January, testing confirmed the Florida cases were caused by the same bacteria strain as cases in California, Connecticut and Utah. Over the course of the year, other states received multiple reports of drug-resistant Pseudomonas, including a report of a Washington man who died after suffering bloodstream infection linked to over-the-counter eye drops. The institution also determined the bacteria is resistant to many antibiotics. The hospital that reported the first infection determined it was caused by the Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria, which can cause infections in the blood, lungs or other parts of the body. Local health officials identified several more cases in subsequent months, with patients reporting eyes inflamed with heavy yellow pus that obscured most of the pupil. How were problems with eye drops first detected?Īccording to the Associated Press, a patient in Los Angeles County, California, who had seen an ophthalmologist in the spring of 2022 developed an eye infection.
